Drew Holzwarth

As the Principal of Piedmont Realty & Construction, Drew brings over 15 years of leadership experience in the real estate industry. Prior to launching Piedmont, Drew spent two years at the Chief Operating Office of Stonehaus Development, a Full Service Real Estate company in Charlottesville. At Stonehaus, Drew lead the organization’s strategic planning, operations, development, commercial construction, portfolio management, finance sourcing, real estate brokerage, and vendor-partner relations. Prior to Stonehaus, Drew had an extensive career at NVR, where he started in 1994. During his NVR career, Drew spent time in Sales and Marketing, Construction Management, Estimating, and the final seven years as Vice President, Division Manager. For the first five years as a Vice President, Division Manager, Drew successfully grew the Washington D.C. Metro Division for Ryan Homes t/a NVR. He then built upon that success and led the start-up teams for the Washington D.C. Southwest Division and then the Charlottesville Division for NVR. During his professional career, Drew has managed the sales and construction of over 4500 homes grossing more than $1 Billion in sales Drew is a registered Class-A Contractor, a licensed Real Estate Agent, and member of the Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors. When Drew is not working, he stays involved in the community and is a head coach for the Soccer Organization of Charlottesville-Albemarle (SOCA) youth soccer program. 

With expertise spanning the full real estate spectrum, Drew brings the strength of a varied combination of talents and experience to Piedmont’s clients seeking real estate expertise. Drew is a results-driven business strategist who is successful in creating vision, identifying opportunities, and building organizations. Drew graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1994 with dual Bachelor’s degrees and later received his MBA at the Darden School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. Drew lives in Albemarle County with his wife Michelle, their two young sons, and their chocolate lab.

Michelle Holzwarth

As the Controller of Piedmont Realty & Construction, Michelle brings her strong attention to detail in accounting and financial control to the Piedmont Team. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Smeal College of Business Administration at the Pennsylvania State University. Upon graduation, Michelle had a terrific career in the telecom industry, beginning as an Analyst and quickly excelling in the Cable and Wireless organization, ultimately becoming an Account Manager. After her rewarding career in the telecom industry, Michelle took the next seven years to focus on raising her and Drew’s two sons. 

With the launch of Piedmont Realty & Construction, Michelle is excited to return to the workplace and build upon her previous professional success. When she is not at work, Michelle hustles to keep up with the pace of her and Drew’s two young sons. Michelle is actively involved in the boys swim teams and sits on the YMCA Parent Council and is a Jefferson Swim League Representative. In her spare time Michelle, enjoys volunteering at her boy’s school, stamping, and spending time with her family and friends.

Jodi Mills

As a Sales Manager for Piedmont Realty & Construction, Jodi brings over 20 years of experience in Sales, Marketing and Training to the Piedmont Realty & Construction Team. Jodi began her career in Northern Virginia in the Hotel Industry while attending George Mason University. In 1997, she joined Ryan Homes as a Sales and Marketing Representative in the Washington DC Market where she quickly became a stand-out among her peers. As a Sales and Marketing Representative, Jodi earned multiple Sales recognition awards including; Presidents Club and Sales and Marketing Representative of the Year for the Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina Regions in 2000. Her tremendous success enabled Jodi to continue to grow with NVR, Inc and she became the Manager of their Southeast Operations in Corporate Sales Training and Development. For the next year and a half, every Sales and Marketing Representative that was hired in the Southeast Region at NVR was trained and developed by Jodi. In 2004, Jodi was promoted again and became a Division Sales and Marketing Manager for the Charlotte, North Carolina Division of NVR. In continuing to build upon her success, Jodi was welcomed by Piedmont Team and rejoins several Managers and close friends who she worked successfully beside during her tenure in Northern Virginia. 

As one of Piedmont’s Sales Managers, Jodi’s primary role is to build and maintain enduring relationships with all of Piedmont’s customers, their real estate agents, friends, and family to ensure a pleasurable and unforgettable homebuilding experience. Jodi’s vast experience is immediately evident upon meeting her as she quickly and comfortably takes away all of the unknowns during the home buying process. Having sold or managed more than $400 Million in new home sales makes her one of the most experienced in any market and we are lucky to have such experience on our team in Charlottesville! When Jodi is not working, you will find her running hard to keep up with the many volleyball and cheerleading activities of her two twin daughters (14) and keeping in touch with her son who is a 1st year at East Carolina University. Jodi lives in Albemarle County with her husband Chuck and their three children.

As a Sales Manager, David brings many very successful years of real estate experience to the Piedmont Realty & Construction Team. David is a 1994 graduate of Youngstown State University in Ohio and, after a very successful career in the golf industry, joined NVR in 2001 as a Sales and Marketing Representative in the Washington DC Market. After a very successful new home sales career in Northern Virginia, David expanded with the company and moved his family to Charlottesville to continue his new home Sales and Marketing career.

As a new home sales and marketing professional, David’s proven skills go far beyond knowing how to sell homes. Having managed the process of more than $100 Million in new home sales transactions puts David among the elite of his field. David’s thorough knowledge of the Mortgage Industry allows him to help guide Piedmont’s clients the entire way through the home buying process, from the initial meeting, through the selling process, through construction, and with care through the sometimes stressful mortgage and settlement process. David truly understands the features and benefits of the entire home buying process and is there for Piedmont’s clients each step of the way. 

As one of Piedmont’s Sales Managers, David’s primary role is to build and maintain enduring relationships with all of Piedmont’s customers, their real estate agents, friends, and family to ensure a pleasurable and unforgettable homebuilding experience. David is active in the Charlottesville community as a Head Football Coach for two different YMCA youth football teams. Occasionally, you will find David on the golf course where you can quickly see him dust off his old single digit handicap. When David is not working or coaching football (or very rarely playing golf!) you will find him racing to keep up with his three young children. David lives in Lake Monticello with his wife Jonna and their three children.

Jim Chapman

As a Sales Manager, Jim brings many very successful years of real estate experience to the Piedmont Realty & Construction Team. Jim is a 2000 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University and joined NVR immediately after graduation as a Project Manager in the Washington DC Market. After a very successful tenure building homes, Jim was promoted to become Sales and Marketing Representative. Jim demonstrated success in a new home sales career in Northern Virginia and as a result was recognized with awards such as Presidents Club and Regional Sales Representative of the Quarter. Jim then moved with his wife to Charlottesville and was promoted Construction Cost Manager, and later to the role of Sales Manager. 

As a new home sales and marketing professional, Jim’s proven skills go far beyond knowing how to sell and build homes. Jim’s thorough knowledge of the Construction Phases and Mortgage Industry allows him to help guide Piedmont’s clients the entire way through the home buying and building process, from the initial meeting, through the selling process, through construction, and with care through the sometimes stressful mortgage and settlement process. Jim’s vast homebuilding and sales management experience allows him to truly understand all of the potential unknowns that can pop up during entire home buying process and is there for Piedmont’s clients each step of the way. 

As one of Piedmont’s Sales Managers, Jim’s primary role is to build and maintain enduring relationships with all of Piedmont’s customers, their real estate agents, friends, and family to ensure a pleasurable and unforgettable homebuilding experience. Jim is active in the Charlottesville community as a Football Coach for two different YMCA youth football teams, is active in adult soccer and softball leagues, and is an avid golfer who “sports” a single digit handicap. When Jim is not working, coaching football, or playing sports, you will find he and his wife Christine working with their highly trained and very obedient dogs (babies). Jim and Christine live in their new Piedmont home in our Spring Creek neighborhood.

Greg Slater

As a Realtor Marketing Representative, Greg brings over a decade of real estate experience in new home sales to the Piedmont Realty and Construction Team. Greg is a 1992 graduate of Virginia Tech and started his career in Richmond in the sporting good industry. In 1996, Greg relocated to the Charlottesville area and began his real estate career working for a local homebuilder and managing a real estate company. Licensed to sell real estate since 1997, Greg has gained valuable experience working with several local builders and developers throughout the area. In 2000, Greg obtained his broker's license and became responsible for supervising, training, and mentoring new agents. In recent years, Greg has represented several condominium projects before taking on a role representing one of the area's top local homebuilders.

Greg has also taken on many leadership responsibilities in the industry. Having served on the Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors Board of Directors for several years, Greg will be the 2010 President. Greg is a graduate of the 2008 Virginia Leadership Academy. Greg has been a recipient of the Real Estate III Ethics Award and received the Circle of Excellence award every year since joining Real Estate III in 2003. Greg has also been recognized by past Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors leadership receiving the President's Award in both 2002 and 2007.

Greg experience has given him an extensive understanding of the home building process. He is particularly interested in the new building practices used to make homes more efficient and comfortable. Greg's most important experience is helping buyers understand the process and their relationship with their builder, their mortgage company, and their settlement agency. Having helped hundreds of homebuyers through the new construction experience, Greg knows how to help buyers evaluate and compare the variety of offerings available to them. Whether adding insight to the overall real estate market or helping buyers understand specific communities, Greg's experience and knowledge has proven valuable.

Greg looks forward to building upon his significant success in the real estate industry by introducing home buyers and Realtors to the Piedmont Realty and Construction Team. Even though Greg is a Virginia Tech Hokie, Piedmont Realty & Construction is ecstatic about having Greg and Real Estate III on our team. Greg lives in his new Piedmont Home in our Old Trial neighborhood with his wife, Kay, and young son. When not working, you can find him spending time with them or pursuing his favorite activity, golf.

Scott Carlson

As the Director of Construction, Scott brings many very successful years of real estate construction experience to the Piedmont Realty & Construction Team. Scott is a 1998 graduate of The University of Pittsburgh and upon graduation, began a rewarding and successful 10 ½ year career with NVR, one of the Nation’s largest homebuilders. Scott began his tenure at NVR as a Project Manager where he enjoyed considerable success earning the Volume Award for three consecutive years before being awarded the Ryan Homes Distinguished Builder award. Scott was then promoted to Construction Cost Manager before being promoted again into the leadership positions of Production Manager and Service Manager. 

All totaled, Scott was responsible for the construction and service of more than 2000 homes during his NVR Career. Scott is truly in his element when he is building highly effective and productive teams of Homebuilding Staff, Trade Partners, and Suppliers. Scott’s thorough knowledge of the Residential Construction Industry allows him to help guide Piedmont’s Trade Partners and Suppliers the entire way through the home construction process. Piedmont’s clients will gain from Scott’s thorough understanding of the entire homebuilding process and he is available to them each step of the way. 

As the Director of Construction, Scott’s primary role is to build and maintain enduring relationships with all of Piedmont’s customers, Trade Partners, and Suppliers to ensure a timely and complete homebuilding experience. All three of these groups find comfort in Scott’s experience and knowledge guiding them through the homebuilding process. Scott lives with his wife Katie in his new Piedmont Home in our Old Trail neighborhood with their two dogs. When not at work, Scott enjoys golfing, camping, and staying active.

Brandon Flasco

As the Senior Project Manager for Piedmont Realty & Construction, Brandon brings many years of residential homebuilding experience to the organization. Brandon is a 2002 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Engineering and began his career with NVR as a Project Manager immediately upon graduation. It did not take long for Brandon to make a name for himself in the Northern Virginia region for quickly ascending the learning curve and not being afraid of taking on some of the toughest projects. 

In 2004, Brandon was approached to join a team that would be opening up a new market for NVR and moved to Charlottesville with his wife Anna. Brandon had a brilliant career in leadership with NVR with an active, hands-on role in building more than $100 Million in new homes during his career. Brandon’s strength in completely understanding all aspects of the homebuilding process is immediately evident upon meeting him.

As a Senior Project Manager for Piedmont Realty & Construction, Brandon brings his significant experience and great attention to each home he builds. With an Engineering background, Brandon is a man of the details and it is immediately evident upon meeting him that he builds a complete home. When Brandon is not working, he is in constant motion trying to keep up with his two very young sons – his work starts at the end of his days! Brandon and his wife Anna are very involved in leadership in their Church and love to spend time with their family and friends. Brandon, Anna, and the boys live in Greene County just north of Charlottesville.

Chuck Mills

As the Senior Project Manager for Piedmont Realty & Construction, Chuck brings more than 10 years of residential homebuilding experience to the organization. Chuck began his career in homebuilding as a Project Manager working in the Northern Virginia region for NVR. Chuck was immediately recognized for his great attention to detail in the homes he built and for his terrific communication skills that translated into some of the highest customer service ratings.

Chuck then moved with his wife Jodi and their family to Charlotte where he continued to be a leader among his peers. Chuck continually was recognized for his customer service ratings and as a result was given more and more responsibility. Chuck is not afraid of a challenge and regularly asked for more responsibility. At one point, Chuck was managing the construction of three NVR neighborhoods with two less experienced Project Managers reporting up to him. In the Charlotte market for NVR, Chuck was highly regarded in the organization and was admired by all of the customers that were fortunate enough to come into contact with him.

As a Senior Project Manager for Piedmont Realty & Construction, Chuck brings his significant experience and great attention to detail to his construction sites on a daily basis. Chuck sweats all of the details and it is immediately evident upon meeting him that he builds a very “tight” home and will not leave any corner of the home unnoticed. When Chuck is not working, he racing to keep up with his twin daughters (14) volleyball games, competition cheerleading, or keeping tabs on his son who is a 1st year at East Carolina University. Chuck lives with his wife Jodi and their children in Albemarle County.

Wade Shaffer

As the Senior Project Manager for Piedmont Realty & Construction, Wade brings more than 32 years of residential homebuilding experience to the organization. Wade spent his first 24 years in homebuilding as the owner of Trim-Masters Construction Company in Sterling Virginia. During that time, Wade earned recognition as one of the top trim companies in Northern Virginia. Wade’s attention to detail was second to none in the marketplace.

After some encouragement from Drew Holzwarth, Wade trimmed his last home in 2001 and joined NVR as a Service Manager for the Washington Metro Division.   From 2002 until 2007, Wade performed more than 950 ten-month service reviews and replied to all requests for customer service in the homes he serviced.  Wade earned the recognition of the NVR Division’s Most Valuable Player and enjoyed some of the highest customer service ratings in the company.  During his NVR career, Wade was one of the most admired workers in the organization and was highly regarded by all of the customers that were fortunate enough to come into contact with him.

As a Senior Project Manager for Piedmont Realty & Construction, Wade’s primary role will be to keep the trains running on time at Piedmont’s construction sites and ensure that not one stone goes un-turned during the day to day activities on the site. Wade brings his strong attention to detail to the Piedmont team and each one of our homes and every customer will be the better for his effort. When Wade is not working, he is tending to his immaculately manicured property and tending to “his” wildlife at his home in Louisa County.

Paul Cohen

As the Vice President of Finance and Accounting, Paul brings many successful years of tax and accounting experience to Piedmont Realty & Construction. Paul has worked for mid-sized and regional public accounting firms where he helped many individuals with sophisticated tax planning and helped many businesses grow. Paul is a CPA, has a law degree from Chicago Kent College of Law, and a Master of Law degree in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Paul and his wife Marci are both Chicago natives and settled in Charlottesville after Paul completed two active duty tours at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School. He is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserves. Paul and Marci maintain a home in Charlottesville but now reside in Richmond to accommodate their three children’s sporting activities. Their oldest daughter is a senior in high school and their other son and daughter are twins who are freshmen in high school. When Paul is not working or tending to his kids many activities, he likes to spend time diving under water with his self-contained under water breathing apparatus (SCUBA).
